Counselling

Hi, I’m Jodhi, a clinical counsellor where people are at the heart of my foundation.

You have landed yourself here, and that is a very good thing!

When it comes to you and your mind health and wellbeing my approach is one of holistic care which means I consider your whole self and your entire experiences. This can be described as the biopsychosocial model where the full range of psychological, biological and sociocultural influences impact you.

This means that your experiences and wellbeing are influenced by a combination of psychological (your thoughts and emotions), biological (your physical health and genetics), and sociocultural (your environment, upbringing, and social interactions) factors. The biopsychosocial model emphasises that all these aspects are interconnected and play a role in shaping who you are and how you experience the world.

My practice is one of being trauma-informed where I work under a strengths-based framework with the five core principles of safety, trustworthiness, choice, collaboration and empowerment. I embrace a message of hope and optimism that recovery is possible. This approach emphasises psychical, psychological and emotional safety for everyone and aims to empower you to re-establish control over your life.

I integrate humanistic and existential philosophies into my practice, recognising and honouring the inherent value of each human being. I create a safe and supportive space where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and experiences authentically. With a humanistic focus that is person-centered, and concentrates on personal growth and self-acceptance, and an existential exploration of life's complexities, my objective is to help you find meaning and purpose.  We will work to overcome challenges, discover your inner strengths, and empower you to walk your path to freedom.

I incorporate evidenced-based therapies and strategies, particularly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) to assist you in understanding how your thoughts, feeling, values and behaviours impact your world where my aim is to assist you in regaining autonomy over your reactions and responses. In addition, I use Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, as it helps you develop a greater sense of psychological flexibility. This means that you are able to respond to difficult thoughts and emotions in a more flexible and adaptive way rather than getting stuck or overwhelmed by them. I also have training in Narrative Therapy, Dialetical Behaviour Therapy, Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy and Positive Psychology. For couples I am trained in  Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Family Systems Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy.

I am able to provide support in the following areas, and do this across the lifespan:

  • Trauma

  • Domestic and Family Violence

  • Anxiety, panic attacks, fears or phobias

  • Depression

  • Stress and burnout

  • Relationship and couples therapy

  • Adjustment difficulties

  • Sexual and Gender Identity

  • Low self-esteem or self-confidence

  • Substance and behavioural addiction

  • Grief or bereavement
